Patricia “Paddy” Larkin Serignese, 98, of South Windsor, passed away in her home Tuesday June 23, 2026, after bravely battling cancer. She was born in the Bronx, NY, March 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Cornelius Larkin and Julia Collins Larkin, both of whom immigrated from Ireland. Paddy was the seventh child in the family and shared many fond memories of growing up in the Bronx with two brothers and four sisters. She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School and married her first husband when she was 18 years old. They had two children, a daughter and a son Michael, who predeceased her. After her divorce from her first husband, Michael brought her to East Hartford, CT. She met the “love of her life” Frank N. Serignese Sr. and they married in 1960. She and Frank had two children, Jillmarie Serignese Macaluso and Frank N. Serignese Jr. She is survived by three children, several grandchildren, a great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Seamus.

Paddy spoke proudly of the whole family’s involvement at St. Margaret Mary’s church in South Windsor. She taught CCD there for each of her children and was especially proud of the fact that she and Frank Sr. started the Bingo program, donating the funds and equipment to get it started and remaining involved for many years. That program is still going strong to this day. They built a home in South Windsor, where she was very involved in her children’s lives, recalling participating in both Boy and Girl Scouts with them. She and Frank divorced but they remained close until he passed in 1994.

She started her first work outside the home at the age of 60 for Ralph Lauren at Macy’s, a job she absolutely loved. She worked for 21 years before retiring. She then spent many hours at the South Windsor Senior Center participating in almost everything from chair yoga to playing mahjong and more. She had many friends at the center and could be found there almost every day until her illness. She was also involved at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in several capacities, including cleaning the alter weekly, a task she took very seriously.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 930 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, following the church service. As Paddy requested, “All are welcome”.
